- 4⭐️ What a cool concept for a fantasy book! I truly appreciated this unique take on a fantasy world and the clever plot twists found within it. I thought it was very well written and I appreciate how it kept me guessing the whole time! That being said, I do think there were one too many twists by the end that happened so rapidly that it didn’t give you the chance to appreciate the reveal before a new one came to light. I also think this led to the final reveal and end of the book being a bit rushed and made it seem less believable. But I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to continuing the series!!

- 2⭐️ Yea this book definitely wasn’t for me. It felt very disjointed and the pacing was weird. It was painfully slow yet also moved way too fast from plot point to plot point. I think there was a lot of elements the author tried to weave into the book that just did not connect. On a positive note, I did enjoy the beginning part of the book from Hallie’s pov! It gave me nostalgic feelings of having a crush which made me feel like I was in high school again. I think Hallie was my favorite part of this book. Overall though, it just wasn’t for me. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t good either imo. Still waiting for a cartoon covered romance to prove my unfavorable bias against them wrong 😂
